Floral Fan workshop @ Gardens by the Bay
Description
Custom your own traditional floral fan
Theme of the month: Chrysanthemum
Since Tang dynasty, fans are often painted by great artists and used as a luxurious gift for diplomacy. Then, they are usually displayed in the house as an artistic ornament. In ancient times, superstition suggests that placing fans in your house can ward of negativity and evil. It is also used in traditional Chinese weddings for the bride, blessing the couple with more off-springs (same pronunciation as fan: 扇子/散子).
Participants will learn floral arrangement on a traditional bamboo made fan, mounted with faux fabric Chrysanthemums , Dahlias and Peonies as the focus, along with dried Common Reed and Baby Breath as fillers.
